Battle of the Bands – FINALS – RESULTS
Hey everyone, we just finished The Underground’s Battle of The Bands 09′ Finals. It was a great night for all the bands. We all had the opportunity to play before 850+ fans, a panel of record label industry reps, and each finalist walked home with a hefty payout check.
We would love to personally thank all the bands that we competed with for making it an enjoyable experience. And would love to congratulate Harmon as 1st place winners, Advocate Seven as runner ups, Brent Reed placed third, and Irela honorably at 4th.
It was a wonderful night and we hope to see you all at a concert to come.
Cheers!

FREE EP Release!
Starting RIGHT NOW you’re able to download a pre-release EP with “Sell Out”, “Sober”, and “Decomposed” for FREE! I know it’s crazy but we’re asking you to pirate these three tunes. We’re stepping out in good faith hoping that you’ll graciously reciprocate by passing along these three songs on to at least 3 friends. Feel free to start a viral audio-fest. Battle of the Bands – FINALS
We need your help on January 16th! If you live in Greater Cincinnati (or live reasonably close) we’d love for you to come out and support us. We’ve made it to the FINALS in a “Battle of the Bands” at a venue called the Underground. Thanks to many loyal fans and now we’ll be competing for $10,000 in prizes to be divided among the top 4 bands.
Two other musical acts have “made it” as a result of this particular competition. Our friends Seabird were signed by a label, just finished touring with David Crowder, and have had a couple of songs featured on ABC’s Greys Anatomy. This competition marked their discovery.
In order to knock it out of the park with this battle we need to get stellar scores from judges as well as audience votes. We’ve consistently done well with judges but could use a larger fan presence. So come on out and cast your vote!

Nashville Showcase
Brent and the guys just headed down to Nashville for an exclusive showcase in front of industry reps at the famed “Soundcheck” Nashville. This same showcase was responsible for breaking the bands Sidewalk Prophets and Rush of Fools. “Soundcheck is truly one of a kind facility. As the largest rehearsal studio complex in the world under one roof, Soundcheck is recognized as the rehearsal venue of choice by many top touring and recording acts. Soundcheck also provides a wide range of support services for touring and studio musicians, both in Nashville and on the road.”
The results were positive! Industry relationships were established and “talks” will continue into 2010 as Brent releases the new album.
The Underground “Battle of the Bands”
Brent will be entering the famed “Battle of the Bands” at the Underground in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is Brent’s second time participating in the “battle.” In 2005 he was honored to place third in the competition. Acts are competing for $10,000 in cash prizes to be split among the top 4 bands. Also, industry representatives will be present at the Finals. A&R from Tooth & Nail records will be seeking out new talent among the top bands.
We need your support! In order to move on to each round we’re asking you to be there and vote! Our destiny is (somewhat) in your hands!
“The Underground is a state-of-the-art club and one of the Midwest’s top concert venues, which provides top-quality, live entertainment from local and national music acts.”
Joshua Seurkamp Collaboration
Josh Seurkamp is tracking on the new Brent Reed album! Josh will be leaving his creative fingerprint on “Firing Line” and “Long-Awaited.” Here’s a bit about Josh.
“Josh Seurkamp is Cincinnati’s quintessential drummer/percussionist. His range flows seamlessly from exotic ethnic percussion to driving pop music and all points in between. As a general rule of thumb, if you’ve heard of any artist or group in Cincinnati, Josh has played with them. He is widely sought after for his defining creativity, his eclectic influences, his unrivalled performances, and his vast array of unusual instruments. Josh has played with Janet Pressley, Mike Helm, The Marshwiggles, Tracy Walker, Grace in Gravity, the Dowlands, Gwendolyn Speaks, and award winners Jason Dennie, David Wolfenberger, and Katie Reider – to name only a few. He has recorded on numerous albums, and he has performed on three film soundtracks.” We’re thrilled that about Josh’s contribution to the project!
Jonathan Willis Photo Shoot
Brent just finished his photo shoot with Jonathan Willis. The pictures turned out amazing! Here’s a bit about Jon.
“After being named one of “Blackbook Raw’s” most cutting edge photographers, Jonathan has barely rested his lens. At ease in the commercial and indie scene alike, he runs from city to city and country to country–tracking down stories, makeshift studios and dynamic light.
Jonathan’s got a trademark style of juxtaposing the ordinary with the offbeat and a reputation for being super down-to-earth and a born (humble) creative. Whether he’s shooting portraits of sinners, saints, doctors, rockers, blue collars or white, his approach is the same: find the balance between too little and too much. Force parameters to force creativity. And with a looking-glass take on time and good judgment, he sets himself apart.”
Willis has worked with CIO Magazine, Sierra Club, SubPop Records, EMI/CMG, Fortune, Cincinnati Magazine, T.V. Guide, YWCA, and IBM.
